Our Purpose:
Nehemiah was an Old Testament Jew who lived after the destruction of Jerusalem. He was working in the king’s palace and was well taken care of. Yet he was not focused on himself. Instead he was concerned about his fellow Jews who were displaced after the destruction of Jerusalem. In fact, after hearing that his people were “in great trouble and disgrace” and that the wall of Jerusalem was broken down (Nehemiah 1:3), here was Nehemiah’s response:
“When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven” (Nehemiah 1:4).
Then Nehemiah praised God and went back and rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem and restored the city for God’s people.
We feel like Nehemiah. We are natives of India and when we see the spiritual condition of our home land we weep, mourn fast and pray to the God of heaven. We are concerned for the spiritual well-being of our people. Like Nehemiah, we want to rebuild the walls in India. Not walls of protection, but instead, the walls of true spirituality that comes only through a relationship with Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
India’s population is more than 1 billion people and most of our people follow false beliefs. Our desire is to introduce them to the God of the Bible. Our desire is to share God’s truth with our people. We will serve our people in India!
